History

Annex

In the Gulf War, Alex Ellis earned the purple heart for dragging his buddy out of a war zone while his leg was severely wounded.

Once he was back stateside, Alex was offered a part in an experiment to give him back his leg for his heroism. Unbeknownst to him, the man who was offering this "gift" was Abner Dunson, father of the buddy Alex pulled to safety. Unfortunately, the man, son to Abner and friend of Alex, did not survive the War, and Mr. Dunson somehow blamed Alex for his son's death.

Mr. Dunson's plan was to erase Alex's memory and replace it with that of his son's using the Annex technology. Something went wrong and Alex, now transformed into more machine than man, went on a rampage. Spider-Man happened along Annex's rampage and attempted to stop him.

Along with some regained memory of his own, Annex used Spider-Man's help to bring Mr. Dunson to justice.

Annex was recruted into the Initiative for training, even though he already had military training, and was active as a hero for quite a while.[1] After the Skrull invasion, Annex was assigned to New Mexico's Initative team, The Mavericks.[2]
