HistoryEdit

Aleksandra Nikolaevna was the daughter of Grand Duke Mikhail and Princess Aleksandra of Montenegro[1], a respectable, wealthy Russian family. As an adult she was morally obliged to care for her elderly, disabled father. One night at a formal social gathering she encountered Sergei Kravinoff bragging to the guests about his many conquests as a hunter. Unimpressed by his arrogance and believing him to be a liar she throws her drink in his face and angrily storms off. Within minutes Sergei catches up to her and enthusiastically convinces her he was telling the truth, stating that in the merciless hunt he found himself. Charmed, Aleksandra apologizes for having misjudged him and the two become friends and eventually lovers, during this time Sergei gives her the nickname "Sasha". Before long, Sasha displays her first signs of criminal intent and pushes her father out of a multi story window, a crime she easily covers up. No longer bound by her own family, Sasha marries Sergei and becomes the jewel of the great Kravinoff family. When Sergei becomes Kraven The Hunter and obsessively hunts Spiderman, Sasha remains in Russia, most likely raising their children. When Kraven commits suicide and her son Vladimar dies also, the prestigious Kravinoff name crumbles leaving Sasha alone and ruined.

Consumed by hatred and grief, Sasha devotes her life to the resurrection of her husband and the defeat of the man she holds responsible for his death, Spiderman. Becoming a ruthless and meticulous killer, possibly greater than her husband had been, Sasha devises an elaborate plan to ruin Spiderman's life. The plan involves teaming up with brother-in law Dmitri Smerdyakov aka The Chameleon and the placing of her daughter Ana Kravinoff who at 12 years old, has been reared into a remorseless savage greater than both her parents, into the correct locations. Their first act involves kidnapping telepathic weaver to the Spider-family Madame Web. The kidnapping is timed strategically to coincide with an attack on New York from Doctor Octopus, one of Spiderman's oldest enemies. Ana easily overpowers Madame Web and with Spiderman busy elsewhere the kidnapping is successful. Secondly the Kravens hire Deadpool to distract Spiderman for a mere hour (though without telling him why). In this time Ana also captures Mattie Franklin, the third Spider Woman, having just returned to the city. Sasha and Ana also recruit Diablo into the scheme after he suffers defeat at the hands of Spiderman and The Black Cat. For next few months Madame web is tortured and drugged into using her powers to feed information about Spiderman to the Kravens. Using Madame Web, Sasha is able to operate at a safe distance and carefully places together The Gauntlet; a long arduous series of unrelated events that collectively will test and drain Spiderman to the point of exhaustion, making him ripe for the Kraven's final hunt.

The Gauntlet/Grim Hunt

The Gauntlet sees Spiderman faced off against all of his old enemies’ one after the other, Electro, The Sandman, the original and a second Rhino all make violent appearances for personal reasons with Electro later approached by Sasha for recruitment. Mysterio then returns to toy with Spiderman whilst he is in the midst of thwarting Mister Negative's designs to take over the New York underworld. Black Cat aids Spiderman in stealing Negative's vial of Spiderman's blood- the essential ingredient to the Dragon's Breath formula (a specialised toxin designed to kill whoever's blood was thrown into the mix)but then callously sells it to the half-vampire Morbius, prompting a distressed Spiderman to retrieve it. Electro is then sent to bust the new Vulture out of prison (echoing the prison break he instigated in New Avengers), the Vulture proceeds to attack J. Jonah Jameson, believing him to responsible for his monsterism. Spiderman manages to save Jameson and as Peter Parker selflessly tries to redeem Jameson's reputation through doctored photographs. Jameson however publicly reveals this at a press conference and fires Peter. Next Sasha Hires former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Carmilla Black - to steal Mac Gargan's original Scorpion suit, which is now in possession of The Hood. She and Spiderman initially fight, though when The Hood attempts to stop her Spiderman saves her life, she then delivers the suit to Sasha. Almost immediately afterwards, The Juggernaut is attacked by a new Captain Universe, with Spiderman dragged into the battle. Sasha's stepson Alyosha Kravinoff is then recruited into the fold, he and Ana torment Spiderman's clone Kaine who has also returned to New York. The final and possibly cruellest stage of the Gauntlet sees Dr. Curt Connors regress back into his Lizard persona, and devour his own son. The Lizard then sheds its skin becoming a smarter enemy with the telepathic ability to tap into "The Reptilian side" of the human mind - which leads to full scale chaos across the city as people kill each other in fatalistic passion. After quelling the Lizard and his influence Spiderman has a dream of all those in The Spider Family being killed by an unknown threat, thus ending Sasha's gauntlet and initiating The Grimn Hunt.

The Hunt begins with Spiderman rescuing Arachne from an attack from Ana and Alyosha. Fearing other spider-oriented heroes would be next they head over to Mattie Frankin's apartment and realize she had in fact been captured months ago. They are then approached by the reanimated corpse of Ezekiel, another wall crawler who warns them of the coming battle between the spiders and the hunters. That night Sasha brutally sacrifices Mattie to resurrect her son Vladimir - as an experiment for the resurrection of her husband. The ritual is botched and Vladimir awakens as a half-man/half-lion creature. Sasha reasons they need to sacrifice Spiderman himself to complete the ritual properly. Spiderman and Arachne rush to rescue Arana - the Kraven's next target, though the battle is unsuccessful and the women are captured. After a aggressive conversation with a terrified Kaine, Spiderman runs to the site of Kraven's grave where he is confronted by the entire Kravinoff family, Mysterio, Diablo and Electro. Ezekiel also reveals himself to be The Chameleon in disguise. After a frantic run for his life Spiderman is beaten, captured and stabbed by Sasha, resurrecting Sergei from his grave.

Initially Sasha is overjoyed to have her husband back - comparing herself to Egyptian goddess Isis for the level of dedication she has pledged to her husband. Ana, Alyosha and Chameleon are also reverent in Kraven's presence. The sight of Vladimir however visibly distress him, Sasha informs him of the complicated particulars of the ritual, prompting him to assert that he and Vladimir now live a corrupt "un-life" created from the demise of their enemies. On closer inspection though the body of Spiderman is revealed to be Kaine in disguise. The real Peter is wondering the graveyard confused after Kaine stole his costume. He discovers Kaine's butchered body, a black spider-suit and a note from Kraven reading "Hunt Me"

Consumed by anger, Spiderman hunts the Kravinoff family, though he arrives too late to save Madame Web who has been shot by Sasha. In revenge for Madame Web, Kaine and Mattie Franklin, Spiderman uses his wall-crawling abilities to tear apart Sasha's face, leaving a handprint. He then subdues Alyosha, Ana and Chameleon with Arachne and Arana's assistance. When confronted with Kraven himself he takes a spear to kill him, too which Kraven offers no resistance but merely says "thank you". Before Peter can strike, Arachne begs him to stop, stating he is the moral compass that holds the entire spider family together. Realizing she is right and that the Kravinoff are ultimately defeated Peter, Arachne and Arana leave to rebuild their lives.

The Kravinoffs meanwhile travel to the Savage Land, a place where Kraven trained to be a hunter years before and believes that his family should train as he did. Sasha however is furious with Kraven for allowing the family to be defeated by Spiderman and thinks their presence in The Savage Land is insane. In response Kraven wordlessly and abruptly breaks her neck, killing her instantly. He euthanizes Vladimir and makes a deal with Ana, if she can hunt her brother he will allow her to live and uphold the Kraven title.
